Ocean Vintage Military 39 - Gnomon Exclusive

The Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military 39 is made exclusively for Gnomon Watches and bears a close resemblance to the much recognized Ocean Vintage Military but not without some differences. The Ocean Vintage Military 39 will be made in limited production. The Ocean Vintage Military 39 is powered by automatic caliber, SW 200, élaboré, operating at 28,800 BPH (4 Hertz) with hacking and hand winding capabilities. It has 25 jewels with a power reserve of 38 hours. And of Elaboré grade.

The Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military 39 is made to the highest of Swiss standard. The case of the Steinhart Ocean 39 is made from 316L stainless steel. Features a satin brushed finish on the top of the lugs and polished sides of the case. This finishing follows through the stainless steel bracelet. The 39mm case has a 47mm lug-to-lug dimensions making this quite comfortable on most wrist sizes.

Deep matte black dial on OVM39

The bezel on the OVM39 is a homage to the military watch the British military issued in the 1970s and has full markings that goes around the bezel. With a luminous pip at the 12 o'clock position. The knurling on the side of the bezel is deep and clean. This helps in getting a good grip on the bezel for easy bezel operation. The 120 clicks bezel clicks positively into position. Oh, did we mention the bezel is polished to be as close to the original as possible.

The Steinhart signed screw-down crown is located at 3 O'clock and is good for a water resistant rating of 300m. The Ocean 1 comes with a sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating for added clarity under different lighting conditions. Now, the dial is where it gets interesting. With much request from collectors, the OVM39 has a very deep matte black dial. The hour markers are filled with old radium looking SuperLuminova. Similar SuperLuminova luminous is applied as well to minute, hour and second hands.

The Steinhart Ocean One 39 comes with a satin brushed stainless steel bracelet with screw links and fliplock. Unique to the Ocean One 39 is of course the new 20mm bracelet which tapers to 16mm. Makes the 39mm model look much more refined and elegant.

Overall, the Steinhart OVM39 exhibits very great value. And is suitable for those who thinks the 42mm Oceans are too big. Like every Steinhart x Gnomon collaboration, this will definitely end up in the hall of fame. For the price, you get a Swiss Made watch with an SW200 movement, a full 316L stainless steel 300m diver watch with SEL bracelet and an overall well finished sturdy watch. This was before not achievable until Steinhart arrived and also probably the reason why Steinhart has quite a huge following although only been around for only 15 years.
